Making the most of the sunshine! Our kindergarten children enjoyed a beautiful day exploring the natural environment outside the classroom.

Outdoor play is a vital part of our program, encouraging children to engage with one another and the world around them. Today's adventures included using binoculars to observe their surroundings, playing classic games like Duck, Duck, Goose, enjoying ball games, and having fun chasing shadows.

These simple moments are rich with learning, fostering social skills, curiosity, and a love for being active.

At Cire Early Learning's Hollins Children's Centre, our Group 4A children have spent the year planting, caring for, and watering our kindergarten vegetable and herb garden 🌱🥕

This week, it was time to harvest! The children proudly collected snow peas, celery, parsley, mint, rosemary, and even edible nasturtium flowers. This led to a wonderful group discussion about different foods, tastes, and textures.

The children had the opportunity to smell and taste their harvest. The mint was a highlight, with many describing it as smelling like toothpaste! The biggest surprise was finding and counting the little peas inside each snow pea pod.

This rewarding experience allowed the children to see the full cycle of food growth and engage in rich conversations with their peers and educators, all from our very own garden.

Exploring our local community is an important part of our early learning program. Recently, our kindergarten children enjoyed an excursion to Lilydale Library for a special family storytime session with Librarian Sharon.

It was a wonderful morning of learning about emotions and feelings through stories, songs, and rhymes. The children loved exploring the library, choosing their own books, and seeing the fantastic Halloween displays 🎃🕷️

A big thank you to Sharon for the fun activities to take back to kinder! Our adventures are made possible with our Cire Services Fleet, ensuring safe and enjoyable travel for our little learners.

While we weren’t selected as finalists this year, our commitment to going beyond nutritional standards has led to healthier, tastier meals and stronger engagement with children and families.

We’re setting a new standard in early learning nutrition with over 90% of our meals achieving the highest (Green) mark on the Healthy Eating Advisory Service FoodChecker!

A huge thank you to our talented chef, Lara, and the incredible team at Mt Evelyn for inspiring children and families to explore seasonal produce, diverse textures, and international dishes.
