Thinking of becoming a tradie but not sure what is involved?


This course four-day Try a Trade program is an ideal introduction into a rewarding career in the building and construction, plumbing, electrotechnology or carpentry industry.

The program is suitable for school leavers, those who are unemployed, looking to change careers and recent migrants.

Cire Training has partnered with Swinburne to deliver this course as part of the Swinlocal Project.

So what is Swinlocal? Swinlocal is a new project that brings together 12 outer eastern Learn Local organisations with Swinburne to deliver a diverse range of courses aimed to assist our communities.

Try a Trade

Delivered by trade professionals, the program provides the opportunity to understand the requirements for a career in a range of trades and what it’s like to be a tradie before committing to a full-time training course.

This course includes:
Construction and bricklaying practical sessions

Plumbing practical sessions

Electrical practical sessions

Guidance to select a trade course

The course is an introduction to a Certificate II (pre-apprenticeship) in:

Building and Construction (carpentry)

Building and Construction (bricklaying)
