Last week was an exciting time as our campuses welcomed back students and staff after the holiday break. Cire's Yarra Junction Campus were delighted in getting to know new faces, setting up positive classroom cultures and creating learning objectives for the students all while still making it enjoyable! The students eased into the new year by playing games and testing out the new play and exercise equipment that has been installed around the campus grounds.
Our incredible Cire Community School teams are back and ready to make their mark! We held a fantastic team planning session at Lilydale Bowling Club, where we welcomed new and familiar team members and collaborated with teams across all Cire campuses. With the enthusiasm, experience and dedication of our growing teams, a world of possibilities await us as we look to create positive change in our school community and beyond in 2023. We look forward to an incredible year ahead. #cirecommunityschool #togetherweachievemore
Meet Olivia, she graduated from Cire Community School in 2022 and is now working at @harrowandharvestcafe in Lilydale. Olivia completed a Certificate III in Community Services and Food Safety at the Cire Mt Evelyn Campus and said it prepared her to apply for jobs after completing school. We asked what she enjoyed most about her experience at school, and she said the freedom of learning, supportive teachers, and Cire doesn't treat students like a number. Olivia has worked at Harrow and Harvest in Lilydale since graduating and is thriving in her new environment. Harrow and Harvest is about enriching the community not only with delicious, healthy food but with supporting local female artists and employing locals to do local work. Be sure to check it out next time you're in Lilydale!
At Cire Services, we prioritize the safety of not only our passengers but also the community at large. To ensure that our fleet of buses meets all safety regulations, mandatory annual inspections are carried out. Road Safety Inspections Pty Ltd, a licensed bus tester, conducts the test. It involves carefully placing each bus onto a shaker, which tests the brakes before examining for rattles or irregularities. To reinforce our commitment to passenger safety, we have chosen to go beyond the annual inspection process and teamed up with Spot On Diesel Services to provide three monthly vehicle safety inspections as well. This means that Cire Services buses are maintained to the highest standards, giving everyone greater peace of mind when travelling with us. #ConnectWithCire #CireBusFleet #BusSafety
While not with the same hype as a Bear Grylls or a Survivor episode, Cire Community School students have notched up their own achievements in the outdoors this year, well beyond their “wildest” dreams. School camps and expeditions have enabled them to move well beyond their comfort zones and develop soft and hard skills they can apply to many aspects of their lives and have loads of fun. It was fantastic to meet Karen, and a pleasure to congratulate her on winning the Beats Headphones competition. Karen has decided to pass them on to her daughter, who is a student at our Mt Evelyn campus. It just so happens that she asked for a pair of headphones for Christmas, turning this prize into the perfect gift. We are so thankful for all of Karen's support and thrilled that she was delighted to be named our winner. A big congratulations from all of us at Cire! Follow us on Facebook for more competitions like this in 2023! #ConnectWithCire #BeatsHeadphones #CireCompetitions
Cire's annual Christmas decorating competition was back and in full swing this last month. The displays were so good that we decided to rank them first, second and third. We based our decision on the following factors: student and child-led displays, creativity and spirit, and recycling initiatives. 📣🥁And the winners for 2022 are... 🏆Berwick @Community School in 1st place! Students welcomed the "judging panel" which included members from the Cire executive, safety, facilities and head office teams, by lining the halls with Christmas Carols playing over the speaker system. 🏆Second place was Cire Early Learning Long Daycare in Yarra Junction 🏆Third place was Cire Early Learning Kindergarten in Chirnside Park Thank you to everyone who got involved. The decorations have brought so much joy to the Cire community. We look forward to continuing this tradition in the future.
Cire Service's board and executive teams recently launched its first-ever "Voices of Young People" tour. The team set out to meet with student representatives at each campus to seek feedback on their experience at school. The feedback was raw and honest, and we are incredibly proud of the student's participation. Each group openly discussed the aspects of school they enjoy and suggested what would help further engage them with their education. It was particularly notable that many discussed academic pursuits within and beyond Cire. Many of our students have experienced adversities in their young lives, and witnessing them meet with an executive team with such confidence was truly rewarding to experience. We are dedicated to ensuring students' needs are attended to, and we look forward to continuing this important initiative into the future.
What better way to end the year than a trip to @funfields ? Cire's Lilydale campus ventured out to Whittlesea for a bit of fun during activities week. With everyone eager to jump on the water slides and rides, it was hard to figure out who was having more fun, the staff or the students 🤔 Thanks to all students for their commitment and growth over the year. We are incredibly proud of their resilience, particularly over the last few months. Wishing you all a safe and wonderful break.
We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season, and we'd like to let you know that Cire will be taking a break over the Christmas period. The @cirecommunityschool Berwick campus was very proud to support the Salvos Christmas Appeal 🎄🎁 Families donated much-needed items over the past few weeks. Students helped pack and deliver the donations to Salvos, who were very appreciative. We thank all our families for donating to this noble cause and helping families who are doing it tough this Christmas.
Loki's mandala is a beautiful and intricate work of art that shows an amazing level of patience and attention to detail. Using wood burning as the medium, this side table mandala is truly a one-of-a-kind piece that is sure to be treasured for years to come. It's amazing to see what our students are capable of when given the opportunity and resources to explore their creativity. We're so proud of Loki for taking the initiative to create this stunning piece of art, and we can't wait to see what they'll come up with next! #ConnectWithCire #CireCommunitySchool #StudentArt #MandalaArt

Last week, 24 VCAL students and 5 staff from Cire Community School's Yarra Junction campus headed to chilly Sovereign Hill at Ballarat for a 3-day school camp. They were relieved to find their accommodation was toasty warm with the bonus of being inside the grounds of Sovereign Hill. The students and staff enjoyed a lovely balance of free time to explore all that the place has to offer as well as structured activities, including a confectionary-making demonstration which allowed the students to see how traditional hard-boiled sweets were made. The taste testing at the end was popular. The confectionary store was a huge hit with a number of students, with so many different delicious flavours to choose from! On the second day, they had the opportunity to ride a mine carriage 20 metres underground and learn the story of the Creswick mine disaster in the late 1800s. The experience included a realistic guided mine tour with projections and audio. On their final night, they were enthralled by the spectacular Aura sound and light show. The show consisted of three different experiences - a 3D cinematic experience that explored the creation of gold, as part of the Big Bang Theory, the experience was a light projection onto a lake that told the indigenous histories of the local land. It concluded in a sound and light extravaganza which told the history of the Victorian gold rush through projections onto canvas and live fire, light and sound. Staff and students report that the camp was an absolute blast. Connections were formed, and memories were made! The students were so respectful and appreciative of the opportunities presented, and they cannot wait for their next adventure! #ConnectWithCire #CirCommunitySchool #CireStudents #CireSchoolCamp #SovereignHill #SovereignHillBallarat
Our students have been busy preparing for our upcoming Community BBQ and Market! This event will be held on 1st December, from 11am to 2pm, at 120 Enterprise Avenue in Berwick. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Miracle Babies Foundation. There will be a range of hand-made goodies on sale, including a large range of plants. This is a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping while supporting a worthy cause. Our students have put a lot of effort into making these items, and we hope that our families and community members will come out to support them. We look forward to seeing you there! #ConnectWithCire #CireCommunitySchool #CommunityFundraiser #CommunitySupport #MiracleBabiesFoundation
Hi, I'm Matt; as the Fleet Coordinator for Cire buses, I oversee a fleet of 16 buses and 20 casual drivers. We transport to and from 3 of the Cire Campuses daily, traveling a combined distance of over 1200 km. Our bus routes cover a wide area, from Reefton to Croydon and all the way to Cockatoo, to name a few. In addition to transporting students to and from school each day, we also provide transportation for the Cire Early Learning Outside School Hours Care and Vacation Care programs. My role is to ensure that our vehicles are well-maintained and that our drivers are appropriately trained and licensed. I work closely with the school to ensure our buses operate on schedule. I take great pride in overseeing the Cire bus fleet. Working together as a team can provide a safe and reliable transportation service for our students. Give us a wave 👋 next time you see us out and about 🚌 #ConnectWithCire #CireCommunitySchool #CommunitySupport
A wet, wild & woolly Melbourne spring day did nothing to dampen the spirits of our year 5 and 6 students as they toured the @foreverfriendsrescue in Yarra Junction. At the invitation of our incredible senior students who volunteer each week, the class embarked on a wonderful day of becoming acquainted with furry and feathery friends. They cannot wait to return next week so that we can undertake some vital cleaning, patting, and walking duties! Thank you to Forever Friends Animal Rescue for being so accommodating and empowering the students to learn new skills and responsibilities.
Orientation sessions for Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs were recently held at Cire Community School. The purpose of the sessions was to introduce students to the various VET programs available to them so that they can make informed choices for their VCE Vocational Major learning programs. Two of the programs offered to Cire Community School students for 2023 are the Certificate II in Horticulture and the Certificate II in Cookery. These programs provide the skills that can lead to exciting careers in these growing industries. #connectwithcire #cirecommunityschool #cireschoolofchoice #cookingskills #horticultureskills #vcevocational
At 10:55am, students and staff at the Cire Berwick Campus formed a circle outdoors to recognise Remembrance Day. Xavier read details about the day and its significance in Australia. At 11am, the Last Post was played over the Public Address system. We are so proud of our students for the respect they showed.
The @Cirecommunityschool VCAL students who volunteer at @foreverfriendsrescue are making a big difference in the lives of both the animals and themselves. The students complete a variety of tasks around the property, including cleaning out pens and feeding the animals. However, the most important part of their visits is to simply spend time with the animals. For many of the rescue's residents, interacting with people is a vital part of their adoption process. The students' company is invaluable in helping the animals to feel comfortable and safe around humans. By the end of their visits, it's clear that both the students and the animals benefit from the experience. The students have gained a range of valuable skills, both personal and professional. Through their involvement in the program, they have developed responsibility, organisation and communication skills. Just as importantly, they have gained a sense of empathy and compassion for all creatures. By volunteering at Forever Friends Animal Rescue, the students are making a real difference in the lives of both animals and people. #ConnectWithCire #BrigtherFutures #Volunteer
