Excitement is building as students from Cire Community School Yarra Junction prepare for a free concert for youth and by youth, to be staged by students from Cire Community School Yarra Junction at ECOSS in Wesburn on Friday, 15 September.
As part of the 2023 Youth Week celebrations, this event promises to be an unforgettable experience for young people of all ages. Thanks to the Victorian Youth Fest grant from the Department of Families, Fairness, and Housing, along with additional financial assistance from Cire Services Inc and support from ECOSS, admission is free for all.
Featuring talented local musicians aged 12 to 23 years, performing solo or in bands, the concert offers a range of musical styles that are sure to impress and delight. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience to support our young, budding musicians!
Organising a concert is no easy feat, but with the guidance of CCS Yarra Junction Campus Principal Jacqui Walker, a group of seven students are quickly learning what it takes to make an event successful. From advertising to reviewing submissions and selecting participants, this group has been hard at work making sure every detail is accounted for. There have been numerous discussions and debates on everything from the budget to recognising the local indigenous custodians, determining equipment needs, and deciding on the number of songs and payments per artist or group. The students have discovered that there are many decisions to be made along the way, but they are eager to continue learning and growing as they plan an unforgettable concert.
“We would love as many young people in the local Upper Yarra area and beyond to come along and enjoy the concert with us,” said Jacqui.
“There is no charge and no bookings are required. We just ask that you come along with a positive and respectful attitude to ensure that this event is a great success”.
To conclude, the upcoming free concert for youth and by youth is a terrific opportunity. It will provide a platform from which young people aged 12 to 23 years can showcase their diverse talents. This concert promises to be a delightful evening of entertainment that’ll please audiences of all ages. So don’t miss out – come along and support your local community’s young talent!
The concert will be from 5pm to 8pm at ECOSS, 711 Old Warburton Road, Wesburn, on Friday 15 September.
